Conservative commentator and Doctor of Democracy, Rush Limbaugh, pulled no punches as he went after Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on his popular radio program,
“She’s a ditz, folks. She’s an absolute ditz.”
Limbaugh made his analysis after playing several remarks from the “fresh face” of the Democratic Party. Ocasio-Cortez was speaking at a town hall where she was attempting to explain and justify her failed New Green Deal.
“We need to innovate and change our, our grain, uh, our, our cow grain from which you know they feed in these troughs. We need to look at regenerative agriculture. These are our solutions.”
It might shock Ocasio-Cortez, a former bartender with a college degree from and accredited American university, to learn that cows graze. They do not eat from troughs.
You could genetically engineer or modify the grain until the cows come home, but it wouldn’t alter or even suppress a single cow fart.
Cow flatulence played a notable role in Ocasio-Cortez’ Green New Deal. Opponents of the massive overhaul of the American economy and infrastructure, that carried a $47 trillion price tag, focused on this paragraph from the FAQ sheet released by one of her staffers:
“Yes, we are calling for a full transition off fossil fuels and zero greenhouse gases. Anyone who has read the resolution sees that we spell this out through a plan that calls for eliminating greenhouse gas emissions from every sector of the economy. Simply banning fossil fuels immediately won’t build the new economy to replace it – this is the plan to build that new economy and spells out how to do it technically.
We do this through a huge mobilization to create the renewable energy economy as fast as possible. We set a goal to get to net-zero, rather than zero emissions, in 10 years because we aren’t sure that we’ll be able to fully get rid of farting cows and airplanes that fast, but we think we can ramp up renewable manufacturing and power production, retrofit every building in America, build the smart grid, overhaul transportation and agriculture, plant lots of trees and restore our ecosystem to get to net-zero.”
Many pointed to the fact that the plan was to eventually “get rid of” farting cows and airplanes.
But a cow trough comment was not the only line from the town hall that Limbaugh zeroed in on. He also played a clip of Ocasio-Cortez lamenting the passage of the 22nd Amendment by a Republican-controlled Congress. Her point was that the original New Deal was so popular that FDR was able to win multiple re-elections based on its popularity.
“They had to amend the Constitution of the United States to make sure Roosevelt did not get re-elected.”
Her point was obviously that the New Deal was so popular that FDR would have continued to serve as president if the Republicans had not stopped his chances with a constitutional amendment. However, this was not a possibility as FDR died 5 months into his fourth term. The chances of a dead man winning and American election, although it has happened, are slim to none.
The argument to create the 22nd Amendment may have started while FDR was still alive, but the bill was not passed until two years after he died in office.
Supporters of Ocasio-Cortez and fact-checkers have attempted justified her comments by saying she “intended” to say something that she did not; that her statement was simply badly worded. However, prior interviews with Ocasio-Cortez and blatantly daft comments from the junior Congresswoman indicate that it’s just as likely that she meant her comments as she stated them.
“She’s a ditz, folks,” was the summary of Ocasio-Cortez by Rush Limbaugh. “She’s an absolute ditz. And Pelosi and the Democrat leadership know it, but they can’t do much about it.”
